It's a calm and peaceful night. Stars twinkle in the velvety darkness overhead as a distant plane blinks silently on the horizon. You could almost hear a pin drop.
That is, until the flare.
High overhead, out of the darkness, a bright light surges into view. For 5 to 10 seconds it outshines the brightest stars in the sky, mimicking a supernova, perhaps even casting faint shadows at your feet. The silence is broken by your own excited shouts.
Could this happen to you?
"It could, if you happen to be outside when NanoSail-D flies by," says Dean Alhorn of the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. "We think the spacecraft could produce this kind of display from time to time when sunlight glints off the reflective fabric of its solar sail."
NanoSail-D2 is a small satellite which will be used by NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and Ames Research Center to study the deployment of a solar sail in space. It is a three-unit CubeSat measuring 30 by 10 by 10 centimetres (12 × 3.9 × 3.9 inches), with a mass of 4 kilograms (8.8 lb). Its solar sail has an area of 10 square metres (110 sq ft), and was deployed in around five seconds.
It was planned to be deployed from the FASTSAT satellite around 03 December 2010, two weeks after launch. The satellite did not eject at that time, but on January 17th 2011, it ejected on its own and deployed its sail three days later on the 20th. The beacon signal began transmitting after ejection and was first received on the afternoon of the 19th of January.
Nearly a year and a half into the economic recovery, some 43.6 million Americans continued to rely on food stamps in November.
More than 14% of the population drew food stamps in November to purchase groceries as high unemployment and muted wage growth crimped budgets. The number of recipients was up 0.9% from October, according to the new report by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Compared to a year ago, the number of people receiving food stamps was up 14.2%.
In both Washington, D.C. and Mississippi more than a fifth of residents received food stamps — the highest recipiency rates of any state.
The United States is one big reservation, and we are all in it.
So says Russell Means, legendary actor, political activist and leader for the American Indian Movement. Means led the 1972 seizure of the Bureau of Indian Affairs headquarters in Washington, D.C., and in 1973 led a standoff at Wounded Knee, South Dakota, on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, a response to the massacre of at least 150 Lakotah men, women, and children by the U.S. Seventh Cavalry at a camp near Wounded Knee Creek.
American Indian Russell Means gives an eye-opening 90 minute interview in which he explains how Native Americans and Americans in general are all imprisoned within one huge reservation. Means is a leader for the Republic of Lakotah, a movement that has declared its independence from the United States and refused to recognize the authority of presidents or governments, withdrawing from treaties it made with the federal government and defining its borders which cover thousands of square miles in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Montana.
Means explains how American Indians have been enslaved within de facto prisoner of war camps as a result of the federal government's restriction of their food supply and the application of colonial tactics, a process that has now also been inflicted on the United States as a whole which has turned into, "one huge Indian reservation," according to Means.
Means warns that Americans have lost the ability of critical though, and with each successive generation become more irresponsible and as a consequence less free, disregarding a near-perfect document, the Constitution, which was derived from Indian law. Means chronicles the loss of freedom from the 1840's onwards, which marked the birth of the corporation, to Lincoln's declaration of martial law, to the latter part of the 19th century and into the 20th when Congress "started giving banks the right to rule," and private banking interests began printing the money.
Donald Trump is mad as hell and may run for President of the United States!
Exxon Mobil's profit soars, along with crude oil prices
January 31, 2011
Exxon Mobil's fourth-quarter profit soared 53 percent thanks in large part to higher crude oil prices, which jumped Monday to their loftiest levels since 2008 on jitters about whether Egypt's instability would spread to other countries or imperil Suez Canal and pipeline links.
In London on Monday, Brent quality crude oil passed $100 a barrel for the first time in nearly three years, and on the New York Mercantile Exchange the benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude jumped more than 3 percent to $92.19 a barrel.
“FACE VALUE,” THEY ARE IN THE STREETS FOR ALL OF US
Egypt is a lesson for America, teaching us to look at ourselves, at how free we really are. We are not so different, Egypt under Mubarak and America under what ever gang of financial criminals and foreign thugs is controlling the government today. Egyptians have known thousands of years of slavery. They recognize it when they see it. Slavery, for most Americans, is something new. Americans woke up one day and weren’t so free anymore, maybe not at all. Some didn’t see it coming. Others screamed a warning and were pounded into the ground for it.
Protests inspired by the revolt in Tunisia have dominoed along Egypt, Yemen and Algeria with citizens calling for governmental change. Webster Tarpley, an investigative journalist, argues the CIA, and other intelligence services from the US and other former colonial powers are behind uprisings in Egypt and elsewhere in the Middle East.

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Foreign Ministry cautioned that Washington has hatched plots to create division among Egyptian people, and further added that such plots will certainly increase anger and hatred of the Muslim world and the Egyptian nation for the US.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said on Wednesday that the US' diversionary conspiracy will provoke Egyptian people's anger.
He also said the US rulers' efforts to prevent popular movement of the Egyptian nation and dispatch of former ambassador of the country to design new diversionary plots will entail anger and hatred of the world of Islam and the brave Egyptian people.
Condemning the US interventions, the Iranian official said fanning internal strife and dividing the Egyptian nation remind old and repeated prescriptions of the US, which have precedence in Iran history and in mind of the great Iranian nation.
Calling for vigilance and national unity in Egypt, Mehman-Parast notified American officials of non-intervention in internal affairs of other countries and the need to respect rights of nations, especially the right of Egyptians to decide their fate.
Analysts say that the United States' double-standard approach to Egypt's popular protests against the dictatorship of President Hosni Mubarak unveils the true nature of Washington's stance on democracy.
When asked if Mubarak was a dictator, United States Vice-President Joseph Biden said, "Mubarak has been an ally of ours in a number of things."
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also called on Hosni Mubarak's regime and Egyptian protesters to "show restraint."
Western analysts underline that such statements leave negative effects on the Muslim nations of the region because it creates the impression that the United States has double standards when it comes to human rights and democracy.
While the people of Egypt are demonstrating to topple the dictatorial government of Hosni Mubarak, the United States has come to the scene of power in an effort to save the Egyptian dictatorship.
Political observers believe that the recent uprising in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen and Jordan are a result of America's double standards in the Middle-East and its biased policies against different nations.
The United States and Europe supported the dictatorship of Zine El Abidin Ben Ali, the ousted Tunisian President, and showed indifference to the Tunisian people's cries of protest.
In Egypt, the United States and the West also support Mubarak in repressing Islamic groups and intellectuals and have supported the torture of freedom-seeking Egyptian youth.
Under the pretext of human rights, the United States criticizes establishments that respect human and civil rights but stand against its authoritarian policies.
Egypt's repressive government, which is now experiencing the formation of a coup d'état, is strongly supported by the United States and the West because of Mubarak's deep and almost complete dependency on these states.
2nd Jerusalem Dome of the Rock Temple Mount UFO video surfaces from 01/28/2011.

"I contend that this story is just the tip of the iceberg into the US government's black operations to further the Patriot Act, funding for Homeland Security and the TSA, and to keep intensity up for the so called War on Terror. Respected lawyer and community leader, Kurt Haskell, has nothing to gain from pointing his finger at the federal government. He witnessed the underwear bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, being whisked past security and led onto NorthWest Airlines flight 253, by a well-dressed man with an American accent- all without the passenger's proper visa and passport documentation. What the news piece doesn't mention is that the State Dept did indeed put Mutallab on the plane, at the behest of "an unnamed US intelligence agency." Undersecretary Patrick F. Kennedy (Detroit news article was removed from web!).
THIS is why we are being groped, molested, and body scanned at the airport by the TSA! Because the government claims the underwear bomber is a real threat! Stand up America- the politicians say our rhetoric is dangerous. Maybe the government itself is terribly dangerous....
