A sudden bloom of bacteria, a newly discovered form of bacteria, called gamma-proteobacteria, ‘I like this one’… A newly discovered microbe, a particularly gluttonous form of oil-eating bacteria that have existed for millions of years…’it’s newly discovered but has existed for millions of years?’ OK. These are just a few of the headlines from months past about this oil eating bug.

The Monster Has Been Released?
The US Government estimates the BP’s oil disaster released 4.9 million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico (most are well aware of gov estimates) and BP used 1.9 million gallons of toxic oil dispersant s, which are banned in at least 19 countries, to sink the oil not recover it. Is the newly discovered form of bacteria Synthia mutating with bacteria to ‘increase recovery rates of subsurface hydrocarbons?’
There are claim’s there’s a synthetic biological plague in the Gulf of Mexico eating anything and everything from the metal on the oil rigs, plastic, sand and even flesh. My friend said he was told that “it’s morphing and replicating itself and becoming larger and creating new life forms by molecularly combining with everything it comes in contact with including DNA.” Sound like fiction? I knew about, and had posted the story last year of Craig Venter, founder of Synthetic Genomics Inc, the controversial American scientist who announced the birth of ‘Synthia; the first-ever synthetic life-form created by man and born in the laboratory. What I was unaware of is, the possibility of it being released in the Gulf of Mexico and being introduced into the food, feed, water and yes, even vaccinations.
“In May 2010 researchers at JCVI(J. Craig Venter Institute) published results in the journal Science describing the construction of the first self-replicating, synthetic bacterial cell. The team synthesized the 1.08 million base pair chromosome of a modified Mycoplasma mycoides genome. The synthetic cell is called Mycoplasma mycoides JCVI-syn1.0 and is the proof of principle that genomes can be designed in the computer, chemically made in the laboratory and transplanted into a recipient cell to produce a new self-replicating cell controlled only by the synthetic genome.”
Definition of – Microbe: a very tiny living thing invisible to the naked eye, especially a germ causing disease.
Bacteria: a very large group of microorganisms comprising one of the three domains of living organisms. They are prokaryotic, unicellular, and either free-living in soil or water or parasites of plants or animals… organisms not able to be seen except under a microscope, found in rotting matter, in air, in soil and in living bodies, some being the germs of disease a throat infection caused by bacteria.
Genome: 1. The total genetic content contained in a haploid set of chromosomes in eukaryotes, in a single chromosome in bacteria, or in the DNA or RNA of viruses.
2. An organism’s genetic material.
I don’t know about you but when I hear things like designed in the computer, chemically made in the laboratory, transplanted into a recipient cell and self-replicating cell controlled only by the synthetic genome it raises my eyebrows, red flags begin waving and bells and whistles go off, silly me. I just have little concerns such as, what if this get’s out of control and mutates itself into a self- replicating super bacteria/organism/microbe and wipes out everything on the planet.
